Trusted Compliance
Our suite of compliance services will keep you compliant, maximise C02 savings, and boost your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) credentials.
Energy users are required to meet a vast array of targets when it comes to reducing emissions and complying with legislation. This often has additional benefits such as helping you use less and lowering your carbon footprint. Obtaining voluntary accreditations will further help to illustrate your sustainability credentials and ensure you’re operating to best practice industry standards.
We can offer a full review of your organisation to assess your legal obligations and compliance status. We’ll provide you with a Compliance Report:
- summarising our findings
- explaining the legislation, and
- outline your next steps.
Our in-house team includes qualified ESOS Lead Assessors and ISO 50001 Lead Auditors, and members of the Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE), the Register of Professional Energy Consultants (RPEC), and the Energy Institute.
“They take away the excessive administration that comes with compliance and offer great insight and advice on our next steps for energy savings.”
Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)
ESOS provides a real chance to improve the energy efficiency of your business, on a continual basis, to make significant cost savings.
In Phase 1 of ESOS we identified 2,829 individual energy efficiency opportunities, equivalent to 461GWh or £43.9m of annual savings across 1,148 individual audits. Our team helped over 300 ESOS Phase 1 clients avoid combined maximum penalties of over £48million.
The Phase 2 compliance deadline was on 5 December 2019 and regulators are currently issuing compliance notices to all UK companies they believe should have participated.
EIC can help you achieve timely compliance and make the most of any recommendations identified in your ESOS report.
Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
As of April 2018, MEES has made it illegal to grant new leases to properties with an EPC rated F or G. Fines can reach £150,000 for non-compliance.
We can improve your EPC rating to ensure your compliance.
Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR)
SECR aims to further incentivise the improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of carbon emissions. It’s also hoped that SECR will reduce some of the administrative burden of overlapping carbon schemes. The qualification criteria are similar to ESOS and will be introduced from April 2019, coinciding with the end of the current CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.
Climate Change Agreements (CCAs)
Complying with the CCA scheme means you can receive a Climate Change Levy (CCL) discount on your electricity and gas bills.
EIC can manage your compliance and regularly report on progress.
CCL rates are increasing with the scrapping of the CRC scheme, and over the next few years, the rates for electricity and gas will be brought more in line with each other.
